Givry 1er Cru Clos de la Baraude - Domaine Steinmaier
The vineyards are planted on calcareous soil. The subsoils are mainly composed of limestone. The soil is very rocky.
The Givry reds come from the Pinot Noir grape.
Located on the cote Chalonnaise, south of Burgundy, the Givry region primarily produces red wines. The parcels face from east to southeast, and range from 240 to 280 meters high. Enclosed by walls, the vineyard is located on a steep slope. The climate is split into three parts, exposed full east.
The wine is aged in oak barrels.
A brilliant crimson colour and a bouquet which opens with violet, strawberry and spices. This is a rich wine, with fine, delicate tannins. This magnificent premier cru is characteristically elegant and rich.
Fine charcuteries, fibrous meats or stewed poultry are the perfect accompaniment for this wine. On the more exotic side but still appropriate: kebabs, keftas and eggrolls. Or simply serve with soft crust cheeses such as Camembert, Roblochon, and Brie.
It is best to drink this wine within the six or seven years following harvest.
Serving temperature between 16 and 18°C.
Available in bottle.
