Givry 1er Cru Clos Jus Rouge

Color: Red

Climat range

The Vineyeard

Located on the cote Chalonnaise, south of Burgundy, the Givry region primarily produces red wines. The parcels face from east to southeast, and range from 240 to 280 meters high. This premier cru has the particularity of being the only one on the commune of Dracy le Fort. The walls surrounding if have been weathered down over time. It is located on a hilltop.

The Givry reds come from the Pinot Noir grape.

The vineyards are planted on calcareous soil. The subsoils are mainly composed of limestone and the earth is very red and rocky.

Aging Process

The wine is aged in oak barrels

Tasting Notes

A clear brilliant cherry red colour. Delicate aromas of fresh grapes, spices and vanilla dominated by dark fruits (blackcurrant and blueberry). This full-bodied wine has a dense aromatic complexity, and surprising volume and finesse.

Accompaniment

Fine charcuteries, fibrous meats or stewed poultry are the perfect accompaniment for this wine. On the more exotic side but still appropriate: kebabs, keftas and egg rolls. Or simply serve with soft crust cheeses such as Camembert, Roblochon, and Brie.
