Montagny 1er Cru Montcuchot
MONTAGNY 1er Cru is a white wine made from Chardonnay grapes.
The hillside vineyard is located underneath a marble pit in Montagny. Its name is linked to its steeply inclined geographical location, with a south, south-east exposure, protected from the wind, thus benefiting from maximum sun exposure.
Shallow, rocky soil, composed of scree, marine sediments and loam. Gryphaea stones and blue clay are also present. The lower surface is pure limestone.
In stainless steel vats, then blended with a portion of this vintage aged in oak barrels.
A pale gold colour with green glints. Complex aromas of fresh fruit, citrus fruit and quince. The wine bursts in the mouth, full of freshness, rich in fruity and mineral hints with a very elegant finish. When young, the wines are fine, supple and fruity. After maturing for a few years, they take on buttery, brioche and roast almond aromas. They become more full-bodied, maintaining plenty of freshness and remaining very fruity.
Its elegance and freshness allow for pairings with very elaborate dishes. Anything with a fin or a claw, grilled or served with sauces: cod-fish with mild spices, fish terrine, caramelised king prawns or seafood ravioli gratin… The charolais veal with its white sauce, Bresse poultry, and cheeses (Comté, Beaufort, Emmental, goat) are also excellent companions to this wine.
Best consumed within six to seven years after harvest.
Serving temperature between 11 and 13°C.
